sprinters as marathoners

Lisa Martin Ondeiki - 400 hurdler

I remember hearing about a woman in toronto that went from being an international sprinter to a mid-distance runner to a marathoner.... I think she died young a few years ago... sorry I can't remember very many details, but i'm guessing she would have been around in the 70's and 80's maybe.... ?

I knew a guy who was a HS champ at 200m, 22-something sec, and many years later, he went 2:25ish for the Thon.

Lisa O'Dea -Martin -Ondieki went to US on a scholarship as a 400m hurdler. She was also a fair 100m hurdler in her young years.

Malmo Wolde ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay for Ethiopia at the 1956 Olympics. Wolde won silver at 10000m and gold in the marathon in Mexico in 68. He finished 3d in the 72 Munich Marathon behind Shorter and Lismont.

tom nyariki, who won last years NYC half marathon, started out as a 400 runner. I don't know how fast he was.

She wasn't on scholarship as a 400m hurdler ever. When she started running distances her talent came out.

How good was Lynn Swann as a marathoner? I remember a very good 800 in the Superstars and I know he was a good long jumper.

I can't remember her name but the blind runner started as a high jump and hept.

If Flojo was still alive she would have won the Olympic Medal for the Marathon just like she said she would.
