What sort of 1000m time would denote a sub-4 mile? Is it too far away to be a good predictor? Any formulas to calculate how a 1000 would convert to the mile?

Remember that mcmillan lists equivalent performances, so if your training is truly geared towards the mile, then running a 2:21 would probably equal well under 4. I've always heard the minimum 800 needed is like 1:52, and then you'd have to have tons of endurance. I'm gonna say that you should probably be able to go 2:25 to start thinking about sub-4.
