I was wondering what type of mileage, the people that have broken 31 minutes for the 10k have done? what type of intervals, speedwork, fartlek etc. I have PB of 14:57 in the 5k, and last year ran just over 32 minutes for the 10k. I am running a 10k in 4 weeks and was wondering what may help me break 31 minutes. Footnote: I just started back up running 3 weeks ago and hit 30 miles the first week and then 35-40 miles the next. I was off for 2 months with achilles tendenitis, but while not running i was lifting weights, and doing my core exercises religousley.
My current Training Schedule:
May 14- 20
M- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
T- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
W- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
T- 2mi, 4-6 x 800, 2mi
F- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
S- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
S- 1 hour at about 6:45-7 min pace
May 21- 27 I will up my easy long run's from 60 min to 75 minutes, and i will do a Fartlek of 8- 10 miles. as well as 3-5 x 1 mi repeats.
Any more advice, that will get me to break sub 31 minutes i would be happy to use. So if you are a Sub 31 minutes 10k runner maybe you could share what worked for you!
Thanks
