I just bought a jug of this stuff. Supposedly a good recovery drink. Anyone use it? Like it? Hate it?

love it.... dont know how well it works but it makes me feel better
I've been using it for a few years. Like it a lot. Even if it's a placebo effect it's helped me bounce back quickly. I'm sure there will be people railing against it shortly, but I like the fact that it's fast. 2 scoops in water, stir, drink and you are done. I run early in the morning and don't want to fart around with a blender or anything before work.
Shop the sales and stock up when you find a good one. There is a Performance Bicycle store by me and I usually buy 2 containers and they last for at least a few months. I use it for all runs 7 miles and up.
I like it a lot. The fruit flavors were awful though, reeeealy bad. Chocolate Endurox tastes just like chocolate milk and goes down real easy. A big cold glass tastes great after a hard run.Never pay full price, performance bike is good along with the internet. I've even gotten it on sale at a GNC.
I'm sure the letsrun indigent will complain about its cost but even if you were to drink it every day a big canister costs less than a buck per serving.
Ingredient-wise, how does it compare with Endurox Excel? (A pill containing Ciwujia and Vitamin E.)
I picked up some recently as part of my new 'try everything' regimen. Tried searching for it here, but only found threads on the other fine Endurox products.
i've run for many years now, and only got hooked on endurox when i got into biking a few years ago. it really does work, and i liked the flavor. the only problem was the cost. i wouldn't call it "expensive," but i couldn't continue to buy it on my no-spending-money college budget.
recently, i read about an interesting study regarding exercise recovery drinks. you can find it yourself by googling:
endurox gatorade "chocolate milk"
that kind of ruins the surprise, but yeah, chocolate milk works as well or better than anything else. i drink that now and, according to my personal experience, it works. it's also dirt cheap, so i can't justify recommending endurox to anyone.

well, you called me on it but, in my defense, it's true. i could only VERY rarely find it at a price that put it under $1 a serving, but $1 was about average. still, though, i was running twice a day, so i was taking two servings a day, and that's $2 a day on top of actual necessities. i had MAYBE $100 of spending cash a month, and i didn't want to use $60 of it on endurox.
basically, now that i have money (out of college), my only argument against endurox is that it is not shown to work any better than chocolate milk, despite being WAY more expensive.
That chocolate milk with the sarcastic-looking rabbit on it--that costs a lot more than a dollar. And you can't just keep it on the shelf and mix it with water.

Good point. When people are talking about how cheap chocolate milk is, what kind is it? Is it those little cartons from lunch rooms or something?
Those "milk chug" things cost more per day than endurox.
A cannister of Ovaltine is a lot less expensive, with a lot less sugar and sodium than endurox. Whatever works for each one is best, I would say. But if don't have the money, do the Ovaltine.

Ok, here's the Ovaltine.
http://www.shopping.com/xPC-Ovaltine_Rich_Chocolate_Drink_Mix_6_ozLets round it down to 3 bucks a can. A gallon of milk is around 4 bucks.
How is that so much cheaper than Endurox?
Well, I need sodium after a workout. Not sure how much I need, and if chocolate milk by itself has enough. Interesting.
Looks like the pro-choclate milk research was "partially funded by the dairy industry." Hmmmm....

Dear ??????,
They sell chocolate milk in the grocery store. A grocery store is where your mommy goes to get the food you find in the refrigerator. She can buy chocolate milk in quarts, half gallons, and gallon containers. Around here a gallon is less than $4 and as low as $3 on sale. There are 16 eight ounce servings in that gallon. That works out to $0.25 per serving. That's how it is so much cheaper than Endurox.
Please let me know if I can help you further.
So I guess everyone lives near you?
Please Mr Math, can you tell us more about milk prices around the world?

Hey asshole. Learn to read before you get snotty with people. The example wasn't using chocolate milk.
The guy suggested using ovaltine, so you need to add that to the cost of the milk.
"In the study, nine male cyclists rode until their muscles were depleted of energy, then rested four hours and biked again until exhaustion. During the rest period, the cyclists drank low-fat chocolate milk, Gatorade, or Endurox R4. During a second round of exercise, the cyclists who drank the chocolate milk were able to bike about 50% longer than those who drank Endurox, and about as long as those who drank the Gatorade."
I'm not really concerned about what happens in the next four hours. I'm more interested in how your legs will feel the next day.

My apologies, I presumed you could follow my simple example using the numbers you quoted. ($4+$3)/16 servings is $0.44 per serving. I trust that we've already established that Endurox R4 is around $1.00 per serving.
Really? Tell me asshole, how much do I pay for Endurox? How much do I use it?

It's well established that post run nutrition is an important component of recovery. Endurox is one convenient way to get a measured amount of calories and nutrients immediately post-run. Some people use nutritional beverages (Ensure Plus, Slim Fast and the like). Chocolate milk is cheap and convenient if your run winds up near your refrigerator.
My conclusion, for what it's worth, is that it is far more important to get that nutrition into your system in a timely manner than to worry about what you take or worry a great deal about whether one nutritional supplement is superior than another.
I've used Endurox products and been happy with them, but I don't believe they are significantly better than any of these other options.
