Since this is a message board for runners, I just wanted to pass on this information regarding the Liz Duncan Memorial Fund that has been set up by Brooks Running (where Liz worked).
Below is a link to the Brooks running homepage. If you scroll down the right side of the page you can read a great tribute to Liz Duncan who was killed in an accident this past weekend in Seattle. She was standing on a sidewalk while waiting to start a workout when an out of control car jumped a curb on a wide turn and hit her. She died instantly from the impact. There was a fair ammount of news coverage of the event in Seattle papers and TV news.
For those of us that knew Liz, we will miss her greatly because she was a special person in many ways who had a strong faith and impacted a lot of people on this earth. As an athlete she had been a soccer player at Washington State in college and took up running after that. She showed a lot of promise in her first marathon attempt under the Leukimia Team in Training program and ran 3:23. After a bit she decided to start getting serious with her running and joined a training group in Seattle this past year where she ran 1:25 for the 1/2 marathon. She was just now starting to scratch the surface of her talants and she had planned on running Chicago this fall and really going for it. At the rate she was going she really a had a good shot at sub 3:00, not to mention beyond that.
Here is a link to the Brooks running tribute and below that is a link to one of the news stories and video.
