Has anyone had success racing a marathon in DS Trainers. If so what is your fastest marathon in them. (pluses, misuses)
Anyone run a sub 2:30 marathon in them?

I ran a 3:13 at Boston in DS trainers. I always liked them as a racing shoe but am now in a Mizuno and or Brooks lightweight trainer for the faster stuff. I always found the DS to be a comfortable shoe that fit my foot very well. It always had a very 'light' feeling, even compared to shoes that were an ounce or two lighter.
I ran NYC last year. It was my first marathon and I was fairly well-prepared, but didn't run up to my potential based on other PRs. Ran 3:01. I'm sort of a fragile guy when it comes to injuries, so I didn't risk flats. Even in a recent half marathon, I wore the DS Trainer. Great shoe, feels good. Plenty of support, light enough for things that long.
The new DS trainer is amazing- It is light, fits well and fairly durable-- if you are looking for a lightweight trainer/ racer then it would be perfect. One tip would be-- dont lace it too tight, as it can pull on the outside of the foot if done so. I do all my mileage in it at the moment- but also tempo runs- so go for it! it will hold up well.
i'd say that the DS-T was one of the most-used shoes at Boston on Monday and has been for several years.
