accidentally hit enter, oops
someone on my team mentioned that Richard Smith may be coming to Auburn in the winter due some sort of problem at Tennessee. Anyone heard anything about this being true or is just wishful thinking?
He couldn't get into UT, I wasn't even aware that was possible. What did he have too many teeth? Last I heard he was part of club Razcko, no doubt under Razcko's expert tutelage Webb and Smith will soon finish 1-2 in the Olympics.
I heard that Smith couldn't get a high enough score on the ACT/SAT to qualify for the NCAA's... if only track was like football, so his teachers could write his essay for him.
Wouldn't that be an interesting scenario if there would actually be an instance in which talented runners who weren't academic qualifiers congregated at GMU to run under Coach Raczo? Wonder what the AD or the head coach would say if their distance coach were spending significant time with people who weren't on the team. Personally, I think if he wants to put the extra time in, he should be allowed to do it. But, from a practical standpoint, that could take time away from family, recruiting etc. But, it could start an entire new thing that might not be the worst thing that has happened to American distance running.
maybe if you came to practice more often you would get an answer to your question.
How will this guy be eligible?
If an athlete doesn't meet the minimum standards they are classified as a non-qualifier. To be a non-qualifier, an athlete must have the minumum NCAA core classes with a 2.0, and not have a high enough SAT score(820)or ACT (17 comp). So a school can admit the athlete and give him/her a scholarship, but the athlete will not be eligible until they do a year of residency. The other option in order to have the athlete for the indoor is to have the athlete retake the ACT or SAT without enrolling as a full time student. This means that the student can take up to 11 hours at a JUCO or a university and still stay on relative pace to graduate. Of course they would still need to pass their test.
That is how an athlete with a low score could get eligible.

Yeah, in the Marathon right?
correction to an above post, razko isnt the distance coach at gmu, i asked the gmu coaches and they said he used to coach there, but is not this year, he is only coaching webb, which i am sure is a full time job in itself.
hoo ahh,
what the hell? i havent been coming to practice for a reason. the coach knows whats going on and thats all that matters so dont be a bitch. Who are you anyway?
