1.tadesse
2.kenenisa
3.mosop
1.tadesse
2.kenenisa
3.mosop
Are you out of your mind?. tadesse do not deserve the first three place:
here are my prediction:
1.kenenisa
2.moses mosop
3.kenyan ????????
I think that Wanjiru might actually give Kenenisa a race. But in the end, I think that Kenenisa will have the wheels.
1. Bekele
2. Wanjiru
3. Sihine/Mosop
It will be brutally hot in Osaka too, but the races will be run at night, so that will be a big difference.
Bekele wins (of course)
Wanjiru
Tadesse
Is it hot and humid in Osaka?:)
Bekele is the favo(u)rite.
Slow race
Kenenisa Eth
Ibrahim Jaylen Eth
Moses Mosop Ken
Fast Race
Kenenisa Eth
Seleshi Eth
Tadesse Eri - Kiprop Uga
Tadesse has to push to get on the podium and he will. It will be a race full of surges. In 03 the ethiopians broke the kenyans at 6k and the three run sub 13 for the second half. They tried it again in 05 .. but the kenyans stuck around.
This time they should run a 27 flat pace until 8k and then hammer them for the last five minutes of the race..Tadesse will panic at 8k and start pushing.. that will kill jaylen and the kenyans. Kenenisa and Seleshi will blaze to glory and kiprop and his 12:57 speed should get him the bronze. Tadesse is stronger on the roads than on the track.. his 5k PR is 12:59
In the 5000 kenya will bring a very strong team .. with songook, Choge.. but at the end of last season we saw Takiku and Cherkose run really really well. Tariku actually beat songook in 3000 World Athetics Final.. but i think songook is the best kenyan athlete period. Both.. these kenyans are inconsistant.. but i think this will be there year.
Songook
Choge
T Bekele
Ethiopia will clean sweep the womens 5k and 10k.. no questions asked.

As hot, or even more so than Mombasa. The difference here is that the races in Osaka will be at night, except for the marathons, which will start at 7:00am and run under conditions of 80+ degrees and a dew point of 70. These will be the toughest marathon conditions that any championship marathon have yet to be run under. It will not be fun.
Athens?

What's the question?
According to Wikipedia, the average daytime high in Osaka in August is 36, with an average of 28. That sounds painful.

Malmo - what were the weather readings for the Sevilla '99 World Champs marathons? The mens was at night but the womens was in the morning. I remember both were pretty brutal (heck spectating was pretty hot too) but the women more so because they had to finish in the sun, while the men finished while it was getting dark. I don't think the dew point was as high as 70, but it may have been up there.

The WC are at the end of August 25 -Sept 3
2006
As you can see, it can be very nasty in Osaka (Aug 29)
as allways, you guys are underestmating tadesse, but you will have a different opinion after seeing him breaking the 10000M and 1/2 Marathon WRs.
you heared it here first!

The mens marathon was August 28. I don't know when the race started but presumably late to take advantage of the setting sun. Start temp was probably 90+ but the Dew Point 60 (as one would expect for Spain)
http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/LEZL/1999/8/28/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NAAs you said, morning starts in the Summer are always problematic because the effects of the Sun are increasing as the race processes. Given that both marathons in Osaka start in the morning with the complication of high humidity (think dew point, RH in itself is meaningless) will made thoses WC marathons very difficult.
tadesse is capable of running 12:45 for the 5K. and the 10K WR should not be out of his reach as he said it last year after running 26:3x.
by the way: he will try to break the halfM. WR. on the 15th of april.
so my prediction is: it is very difficult to predict any outcome for the men`s 10000M. the candidates are
- kenny
- sileshi
- tadesse
- wanjiru
- martin mathati
- mosop
- micah kogo
Mottram
I doubt Mottram is running the 10K. However, with his mile speed he is a contender in the 5k
I'm not sure Tadesse has the raw speed for a 12.45 5k...I think he is more like Tergat... serious strength and endurance which gives him more of an advantage at the top end of the distance range.
Kenny B will win the 10k in Osaka...its personal now!! I can't see any of the guys you've mentioned living with him.... the only dark horse is probably Kogo who seems to be coming on strongly, but I think Kenny B has everyone else's number!
Yeah.. realistically.. Kenny be can take any of those guys in a neck and neck battle in a 10,000.
I also think that zeresenay can easily run 26:2x in the 10,000. But he will have to do it with a whole bunch of people hanging around with him. His best chance is to arrange something for a solo attempt.. at hengelo, spain etc., after the world champs.
Micah Kogo.. is interesting...
