I ran 4x400m with 3 mins rest in 60,59,61,59. Could i break 2 mins for 800m?

are you a girl?
Could you? Maybe. Can you really know off of that one workout? No. Is that workout really that tough? Not really. Cut down the rest time a bit once you get some good base mileage in and maybe up the quantity to 6 at that pace. You should start to see results. Be patient, it's early in the game.
no. dont ever try or you will live a life of frustration and disappointment. sorry for the bad news.
it really depends how it felt during those 400s. You had plenty of break so those times aren't off the charts but show good speed. In a proper race with pacing that isn't too fast or too slow you should be able to.

wow, you are a funny guy. Seriously, why diminsh them when they are asking an important question. This is important to them and don't need your poor attitude.
To answer your question, yes you can, but it all depends on how you felt during the workout. Was it easy or were you struggling to finish the 400s. Also, a better indicator would be if you took less rest, 3 minutes is quite a bit. Basically, for you to break two minutes, you need to feel comfortable running a 58, 59 second 400. If you can do that, you are golden. Best of luck and don't give up, you are almost there.
It felt hard but it was fun. Background information - i'm a boy :) doing 40-50 mpw slowly getting into track work.
What are your other times like, for instance your mile and 400 and even current 800 meter times? I think you can go sub 2 but It would be hard, remember to push the 400-350 meter marks ... thats what I do because people lose alot of ground there.
By virtue of the fact that you felt compelled to ask the question, I'm going to say no. If you stop being so analyitical about it and just run the d*** race, then you'll probably run 1:57.

because a sub-2 800 girl runner would be asking letsrun if they thought she could go sub 2............
I had a boy who ran 1:59.6 a week and a half after running 6x400 at 60 (I don't remember the splits, but they were fairly close. I think there was a 61 and a 62 in there). He had around 5 min rest if I recall correctly. It was my first year of coaching (1991). The workout was on a dirt track, the race was on all weather.
The workout was very hard for him.
2:01-2003 i would say
I have always found that 4x4w4 (4x400w4 min recovery) at date pace was a tough session, in the context of mid-season training. So averaging 60 COULD indicate sub-2:00 fitness, but as with all these threads, there are guys who could do them in 57 and still not deliver the goods, others who would be 62 yet squeak under.
Try running a 600meter at race pace( 1:27-1;28). and see how you feel. then take 3min rest and do 3x200 at race pace.
Are you doing that workout at the end of the year.
would that workout be better end of year?
5 x 400 with 5 minutes rest all in sub 60 run in a big group = 2:01 flat for me.
OTOH, I had no speed - 56 flat 400m PR at the time.
800 runner,
I predict 2:05 off that workout. It really is not that tough. And the 2:05 assumes you have some talent. Try 4 X 400 in 59-60 with two minutes rest and then take a five minute jog and do the same workout again. Now take a couple minutes and rip off 2 X 200m in 27-28 with full rest. You can do that you can run 1:59.
If you can't run sub 2 off of the OP's intial workout, then maybe you shouldn't be running the 800, but the mile.
sub 2 is straight up mental. Just get out in 57 or so and take it home.
Personally, I wouldn't do that many 400's for an 800 workout anyway, more like 3 at the max with smoking fast 200's after.
The fitness is there, that is a good indicator workout and if you have 40-50 miles you have a solid base. Ninetonite's workout is complete bullshit. When I broke 2 for the first time I couldn't touch that workout.
