I had a moderate cold, and took 5 days off of running. Today I went to practice and felt absolutely horrible in the speedworkout we did. Normally I am one of the top guys, but today I was one of the last. My legs felt they had not energy, and I just felt tired and exhausted overall. However, I don't feel sick outside of practice anymore. What could be the problem? I want to put in a lot of miles this season, and start doing doubles, but ever since the track season started last monday I have not felt too good. Is it just the aftereffects of the cold, the 5 days off, or something worse? I have a race in a week, and want to get back in my shape from a week-2weeks ago.
Also, on a side note, what is the minimal amount of sleep needed to run doubles? Would it be worth it to wake up and do a short 2-4 morning run if I only can get 7 hours of sleep?
Thanks for your help.
