Mayock's excuse?

Many an athlete has been cheated out of their due by the drug users. They have been pushed off Olympic teams, had records broken, denied prize money, etc. by others who resort to illegal performance enhancing drugs.

Just this morning I was speaking with an athlete who has the number 2 mark for an American in an event behind another athlete who tested positive for illegal drugs a good number of years after the mark was set. The drug user still has the record, the notoriety. The other athlete is more or less a forgotten also-ran. But I know that if she had to chose today, she would still chose to have competed honestly than to have cheated her way to the top.
