Great article on Michael Spence. Seems like a good guy working his way through. I was curious about the article/interview on him where he indicated that while in Ogden, Utah he trains with the Weber State team.
It is my understanding that a post-collegiate athlete cannot train with a collegiate team at a workout organized by the collegiate coach unless that post-collegiate athlete is an alumnus of that school and program.
So, with this in mind, Michael Spence should not be working out with the Weber State team at any official team practice. I know it sounds crazy and not real supportive of post-collegiates with college runners but that is a basic NCAA rule.
Otherwise, programs could use this as a recruiting advantage in bringing in athletes to train with their collegiate team members.
Any thoughts out there? Anyone well-versed in the NCAA rulebook that can interpret this the same way or is this mistaken?
