My legs (mainly quads and thighs) are much bigger than anyone else that I've seen. They've been this way since about 8th grade. Are big legs typically an advantage or a disadvantage?

Whatever you think they are dude. It's all mental & it's about how you view yourself. If you listen to some people on here say how skinny legs equal less pounding & less weight to carry, then you'll be see yourself as too big & slow. That will carry over to your running, and confidence.
but skinny legs do equal less pounding and less weight
should we say that amputees are good for running too to boost their self-esteem?
They're not gigantic, they're just bigger than everyone else's. A lot of girls have actually told me I have really nice legs. The confidence/self esteem thing isn't an issue. I was just wondering if they help or hurt me.
Hurt - elephants aren't gazelles.
Who cares homie? You can't do anything about it so just run with what you've got. .
Bekele I certainly wouldnt say has large legs, but in comparison to many of the Kenyans he races he does, it doesnt seem to affect him.
Paul McMullin was a great middle distance runner with a huge build.
Solinski looks downright huge next to guys he has competed with/against- cheseret, rupp, bairu, eagon, fagan, etc. And that includes his legs. He leads the NCAA in the 3k and 5k.
Dont worry.
