How long before ALL NCAA schools drop their Track and XC programs?

Everyone still sees running as the nerdy/loser/cut athlete sport that it was for some in high school. The public doesnt realize the eliteness of the professional athletes because all the screw-ups are competing in T&F/XC in high school.

I (jokingly) propose that no more nerdy/loser/cut athlete kids ought to be allowed to participate in Athletics because it gives the good people a bad name for eternity.

The top programs are fine. USC and UCLA with all the Olympians and Olympic medals would be the last to go. Stanford has such great athletics it's fine. The PAC-10 is the strongest conference in athletics including football. Maybe the WCC, Big West has some programs in danger. I hope now.

The only program that might be at risk of getting dropped in the WCC would be St. Mary's. Every other program, including Pepperdine, are making serious strides and improvments. I'm not saying they are top quality, but they are starting to be somewhat competitive. Almost all of the schools in the past 2 years have added Track as an offical sport.

more denial here, it doesn't matter that they are "starting to be somewhat competitive" or "are making serious strides".all of you guys are in complete denial until the AD makes the announcement about YOUR program, then everyone comes here to pi$$ and moan and asks for everyone to write the AD - not one fvckin' program has been spared because of a letter writing campaign or petition.

Are there too many teams, is that why some pruning is being done. I don't see why else. St Marys in Moraga has money, I've been to the campus in a nice upscale area.

The only reason I say St. Mary's is at risk is because they are the only program going completely backwards in the WCC. They cannot field a decent team (they haven't even been close the last 3 years). I don't think they will be dropping their program, I'm just saying they are the only one that could even potentially be at risk right now.

As for the other reponse- Did you miss the part that stated that nearly all of the schools just added track as an offical program? Why would a school add a sport if they are just going to cut it? Please explain...
