I run the 400m and 800m so run with the distance squad one day then sprinters the next. The spint coach makes the spinters where pants at all time in order to "keep the muscles warm."
Does this make any sense, and does it actually do anything?

it ummm, keeps your muscles warm, not too hard to understand
Maybe he hates to watch your cellulite jiggle.
Think about it for a minute, what is the core body temperature and what temperature is it where you are warming up. More than likely you are not going to be warming up where it is over 100 degrees. Then, in order to keep your muscles properly warmed up, you will need to wear pants to keep them warm!
You sound like some of the immature know-it-alls I have occasionally on the teams I've coached. They show up for practice on a 40-degree day in nothing but shorts and a T-shirt and forget that there's more to practice than just starting a run when you shut the door behind you and continuing to move until you get back.
I tell these geniuses that I see the best track athletes in the USA keep their warm-ups on at the Olympic Trials when it's 100 degrees outside in Sacramento because they are focused to such a degree that they understand the need to keep loose and warm. But no, these young "experts" say they feel fine when it's cold in shorts (as their teeth are chattering during the rests between reps).
Fortunately, there are always a few more that listen and learn.
if you didnt have pants on, how would it be a challenge for me to get them off?
ha! i have people like that on my team...gawwwlee theyre dumb. one thought he could make his spikes (which were sprint spikes while he's a distance runner)into at at least flats since he forgot his trainers just cuz he can take out the spikes. this guy is duuumb. oh ya and i dont know why but he calls frosh-soph "crosh soft"
Would you rather wear your skirt?
that's what you get by living in a theocratic state under sharia law, shakur.

Awesome grammar and spelling errors aside (e.g. above)...
Warm muscles are happy muscles. Have you ever seen elite sprinters work out? They wear tights in all kinds of weather. Just play along with your coach.
Yes, it does something, as someone pointed out "keeps the muscles warm". I love this place, just like the 16yo genius here who claimed that his mother was borderline retarded. Later he went on, intending to state that he was “of average intelligence” – but spelled intelligence incorrectly.
Check out the Kenyans - they obviously are not sprinters but will keep their sweats on until the very last minute, even on the most sweltering days.
This is why teams hire coaches, because they know more than you. This isn't always true all the time, but in this case it definitely is. Put some damn pants on and stop whining.
