Anyone have a good method for prediction of a DMR 1200m? Specifically, what could someone who ran a 4:16.77 mile and 1:55.18 800m two hours apart last week run for the 1200m. Thanks.

3:00-3:02
3:02-3:04
3:02 at best 3:06 worst
3:03/3:04
800 time = 57.5 per lap
Mile time = 63.75 per lap
6.25 seconds per lap difference
It is NOT halfway between (the velocity to distance different is not linear; there is a greater difference in pace change between 800 and 1200 than 1200 and 1600). I would say about 60% of the slow-down between 800 and 1600 occurs between 800 and 1200 pace, and the other 40% between 1200 and 1600.
So, I'd say 3.75 seconds per lap slower than 800 pace (i.e. 57.5 + 3.75 = 61.25). 61.25 x 3 = 3:03.75
I'd say you're looking at 3:04ish. Do not go out faster than 59+/60-.
this website can give you a predicted 1200m time
i run similar times, you guys got it, 3:03-3:04 is right
