DJ died while coaching a developmental basketball team. He was 52 and had no significant medical history and no symptom before he died.
He was a very good Celtic player on a great team.

Relive your childhood, buddy. 3:05 in the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVzLQVs0RdEi remember dj and sam williams leading the supersonics into the playoffs. When dj was at pepperdine, he was simply amazing as an athlete. While not a pure shooter he was really something to watch. People forget that he went to the celtics after suffering a potential career ending knee injury which curtailed his amazing leaping ability ( his name at pepperdine was "airplane") he adjusted by becoming a crafty defender and working on his shot. Yet he was approachable as I recall striking up a conversion with him at cal state dominguez hills in the stands during a summer pro league game. We had an extended conversation as any two true fans would, remarkable only because he was an established nba star with seattle and i was i guy who couldn't get playing time on a division 11 team
That voodoo doll I've been sticking finally worked.
Zeke
Dennis was a wonderful guy and a terrific team player. I watched him play druing the 80-81 Boston Celtic's season. And I just recently saw him in Austin at the Toro's game last Saturday. We had a delightful chat about the "old days".
I'm sadden by his passing but so glad I knew the guy.
DJ contributed to one of the greatest teams in NBA history. I definately feel old hearing the news of his death.
Really odd to see a black man with all those freckles like he had. Pretty funny to look at.
