I didn't see the program, but am curious also as to what the US would do in a situation such as this. Blow the Middle East off the map?

Maybe we could send Fox News over to fight for us. They're really brave and patriotic.

you do realize if america nuked in response to a TEROORIST attack (which is not the fault directly of a nation). They would be ostracized from the global community. Many many countries would go to war against the us if they did such a thing.

The US should respond by not wasting billions of dollars in Iraq when they could be spending that money more effectively fighting terrorism. Oops, we already fvcked that one up.

I recall one Indian fellow I know, too, who mentioned to me that he felt the US had become 'much more paranoid' as a nation than before the fall of '01. He was trying to be diplomatic about it, which is one characteristic I have noted in the East Asian folks I have met in my lifetime: they are very polite and dislike confrontational or unpleasantness, which really makes me curious about the Zanies who like to blow themselves up in tribute to their version of Something Greater.

I thought that Chirac, like him or not, sent out a nice message when he said that, if France were attacked by a nuke, places in Iran could get VERY WARM in response very quickly.

Additionally, in an article that criticized the liberal mindset, the article's author attributed a story to an American woman traveling in Europe somewhere who was accosted at dinner by some exotic Middle-Eastern type who tossed some of her dinner in her face and cussed the US, at which point the woman tried to apologize for America. [To be fair the author of the article stated he seriously doubted HIS response would be so genteel.]

It's an odd world these days.

Actually the guy you speak of I think his name is Michael Deare or something like that is one of the few straight shooters out there I think he was in charge of investigating and keeping track of Al Queda for the CIA (Not really sure of his official title or job) back in the Clinton Admin. I've heard him speak on numerous shows. He has been equally hard on both Clinton and Bush. He seems to be one of the few non partisans out there.

He is pretty knowledgable,and knows what he is talking about.

You're thinking of Michael Scheuer, the former manager of the Bin Laden unit at the CIA. If it wasn't him, it was probably Robert Baer, a former CIA case officer that worked signficantly throughout the Middle East.

Spend $400B ousting a dictator in the middle east and trying to install a democracy in the country.

Spend $400B increasing our intelligence and special ops forces. Developing increased border security and sending forces to the remote areas where the terrorist leaders are believed to take refuge. Bribing non-terrorist tribal leaders to give us information and cooperation locating and fighting terrorist groups. Using money to increase knowledge sharing between our intelligence agencies and our allies'. Increasing local police forces nationwide. Etc. Etc. I don't know the first thing about fighting terrorism, but these seem like some decent ideas I pulled out of my ass, that all seem superior to invading Iraq.

But you're correct. The war in Iraq was probably the way to go in the fight against terrorism.

Couldn't agree with you more, which is interesting, since Clinton undermined our intelligence gathering effort via the nefarious methods you are advocating. Would probably have prevented 9/11 to begin with if he wasn't such a fukking idiot.

As someone who got into an elite (elitist) university largely due to athletics and possibly affirmative action (my HS grades werent as strong as many at this school) I'd love to have a conversation with the guy who thinks liberalism is a mental illness. I recently accepted a job offer at one of the top firms on Wall St and I have pretty much made it more than anyone from my hometown could imagine. I am a hardcore liberal on almost all social issues, and definitely left leaning on all other issues. Apparently though, according to this guy, I don't want what is best for my country and I have a mental illness. Please, elaborate, I would love to be enlightened.

Also, why is it that in almost all studies, liberals prove to be more educated and in touch with current affairs than conservatives? Please, sit down and think about these things. I love how Coulter calls us Godless, because conservativism is actually the opposite, it is a cult. I would rather be Godless than some blind cult member.

Minimum wage - democrats parade around representing the interest of the poor, disenfranchised, etc. Raising the min wage, actually hurts the poor by pricing them out. Raising the cost of business is passed on to consumers and low skilled workers. incr. min wage decreases low skilled workers incentive to get more education/training.

Free health care for everyone? thats socialism, check out how it works in Canadian hospitals or Cuba for that matter - there residents are traveling to US cities for health care instead of waiting 8 months for a flu check up... Lots of cases in Europe where people are diagnosed with curable cancer but because of long waits, end up dieing.
