I have never known anyone who used condoms for more than a few weeks who did not have one break. Ain't no feeling like looking down and seeing only a ring while trying hard not to yell 'Where the hell did the rest of it go?'

I know old single guys (45-55) who always hang out at bars and parties with much younger runners. I do find them a little bit creepy trying to impress 20-something girls who think of them as their "old" father-type friends (these guys have no clue).

But what about women? I know a few 38-42 women who hang out at the bar after practice, and mingle with younger runner guys. For some reasons, I think they're cool to hang out with us...what do you think?

but as for the age thing, there are plenty of women in their (late) teens and twenties going out with the forty and fifty-something guys, as pathetic as that is.

We've got a couple of single "older" guys on our team/running club in their late 30s and early 40s. They are ok and we allow them to and we hit the bars and clubs. We're all in our mid 20s and make them an example of what we do *NOT* want to end up like, which is 40, single, lonely, renting and living in a cruddy apartment, and still hanging out with guys 10-15 years younger then them. Neither of them can keep a steady reltaionship with a girl for very long. Funny thing is that we joke around that one of these days it's going to come back to bite them in balls when they get their share of STDs. As they say it takes one girl to get an STD becuase once you sleep with her, you've slept with every guy she's slept with and every girl he's slept with and so on.

Nothing is wrong with it if you're happy. I think the point some people were making is that some of the 40/50 year olds are only doing it because they're lonely, and they're not happy.

I agree with whoever said the most important thing is to find someone who isn't insecure. If you can find someone who is independent and has a full life and outside interests as well, you've got it made.

Hey, OP, calm down. You contracted an std, no biggie. DO you know how common HPV is? Do you know how common herpes is? There arent valtrex ads on TV every five minutes because nobody has the disease! You are suffering from post-tramatic-learned-I-got-an-STD-for-the-first-time-syndrom. Treatments and precautions work VERY well to keep most stds at bay. (obviously hiv is an exception but I dont think you got that one or your letsrun post would be a little more frantic.) You got your first std out of the way, learn up on it and take the proper treatments and precautions and it is all good. You are WAY over-reacting.

The trolliness of the OP is accentuated by the vagueness of his supposed "STD" (chlamydia? Herpes?AIDS?) and by his lack of follow-up to this thread (used a condom? Didi it break?). Calling BS.

As you mentioned, he writes a big long post, but is ultimately vague about it. First he says a couple of stds, then one, then back to more than one.

His references to the post-nuptial thread also heavily leans in the troll direction. The whole warning to other guys thing. The idea that the girl was only with 3 other guys really supports this. This lends toward the whole instill the fear of God into you strategy. 3 people my arse. So, this guy is 40+, has evidently been around the block a few times and really believes this? I have a bridge to sell you pal. The reality is not that he believes this, he made it up. That is why it is so ridiculous.

To recap this guy's situation. He finds out he has one or more STDs and is so freaked out he feels he has to post about it on a message board. Yet the entire message of his post is "hey guys, you should definitely get married. there is so much more to cherish."

probably just got out of his american's for families sunday bible study class and is trying to spread the message. Didn't they talk about how you aren't suppose to lie in your little groups? Nah, probably just whatever it takes to convert huh.
