So he can run 4:29 for 13.1 miles. Can he go sub-4? If so, how far under?

I think anybody setting or coming close to world records in any distance race is capable of sub-four. I'm not saying any given day they could hop on the track and bust one, but if they wanted to it could be done.
I bet he could go at least 3:55 if he were to prepare for such a short race.

Meb's run 3:43 and Todd Williams' mile PR is 4:00. So yea, I agree.
i'd say 3:55 is a good prediction, and I'm sure he could go faster if he really trained for it
He ran 1.48 for 800m three years ago. He can probably run under 3.50 for a mile.

Probably 3:55 to 4:00 right now, 3:48 to 3:54 with more specific training.

Mebs run 342.29 even to help your point...and this was in 98...two year before he really broke out on the track when he ran 1311...and 3 years before his 2713.

He was running sub13:40 in high school and NOT winning the Japanese HS championships.
For sake of comparison, culpepper's mile PR is 3:55.
what the hell happened in 2005?
80 sec drop in 10k, 35 in 5k???
WOW

Actually 26 second drop in 5k PR. One would presume his training improved, he matured, no mishaps occurred and he got into some good races.
But you may now make your drug accusation. Please try to make DIRECT one this time, instead of the pansy's wink-wink, nudge-nudge variety

well as he is 20 now, in 2005 he would have been 18. that large a drop from 17 to 18 is hardly uncommon, of course he is much faster so the drop would be less, but still there. Most people stop putting their NRG to growing about that time etc. are stronger
