I haven't been able to run for almost 8 weeks because of this groin issue (AP). But I am able to do the cross-trainer and the elliptical. So I wail away on one of these things every morning, but I'm still getting FAT (relatively). Nowhere near as lean as when I run every day for the same amount of time.
This morning I did the cross trainer for 53 minutes. The machine said I burned 820 calories. Yet when I've run on a treadmill for the same amount of time, it would say I burned about 150 calories less. But the run always seems like a much tougher workout and I definitely stay lighter while running.
All this leads me to conclude that the calorie-burning calculation on these machines is complete BS and not worth paying attention to. Many of you may already know this, but I use these machines so rarely I am just now seeing the light.
