i sick and tired of seeing craig mottram and alan webb slow down and celebrate at the end of a race.
im not sure what mottram is up to. when is he going to attempt a wolrd record?? and what event will it be it?? it will either be the 3k/2-mile or the 5000. still, seeing him slow down at the end of a race is runing his perception of what his time should be. obviously his celbration of arm pumps at the end of boston indoor was unncessary, but it was cool nonetheless. but if hews even going to attempt a wr in the 3k or 5k or w/e, he better get serious and start running THROUGH the finish line.
as far alan webb goes, the 1500/mile is an even speedier event; therefore every second or millisecond counts much more as opposed to what it would in a 5k or longer. he has NO excuse to be slowing down when he gets 15 meters from the tape. NONE WHATSOEVER. we all know his next goal is to break steve scotts american record and then attempt the world record. he is in the MOST IMPORTANT days of training. if he coulda pumped out a high 353 or low 354 at boston, that would have given him and his coach a better idea of where he is at right now in his training. but, like alan said in his flocast interview, he only wants to win races and set a pr (even though its january.) i guess he just doesnt care HOW big he wins or HOW big he pr's, as long as he bearly does both because it is still january.
him running through the tape next time and hitting a low 354 could possibly show no improvement because he didnt run through the tape at boston. as long as he STEADLY improves, i guess its fine. him and mottram gotta have fun at the end of the race anyways. you've worked so hard and now its time to pay/show off. i guess all runners have to do it sometimes, its just part of the sport.
i like to celebrate also, but i know if i set a huge pr, i wont even have enough left for a victory lap; much less a cooldown/celebration/ combination thereof.
