The Tranny Tavern. Lots of hot ladies there. Have a few beers before you go and I am sure that you will have a

A bachelor party at Red Rock? No way! You will however run into bachelorette parties almost any night of the week. It's a good show...

whatever you do, go to ollies for dinner- its chinese food, really fast, really delicious- theres a couple of them- take the C train to 86th street and its on 81st and amsterdam or something and theres one off of times square at like 42nd or 43rd street and basically all trains go to 42nd and 7th avenue- times square.

Oof. In this city of four Chinatowns, Ollie's ain't exactly a contender for best, or even 50th best, Chinese restaurant.

OTOH if you're from anywhere without a sizable Chinese population, yeah it's probably a lot better than that place at the strip mall you're used to.

Red Rock is gross and dirty, I was there once and couldnt wait to leave. It will be a waste of your time and not what you want to do while in NYC. Head to the east side (3rd Ave) in the 70's and 80's like C Jacks. Or the Ginger Mann 500 beers on tap 11E 36th Street, awesome place. But then again you could always stay by the armory and go to Coogans...great irish track bar, can spend hours looking at all the pictures and the great collect of track and field related material. Much more of a track and field hall of fame then what is in the Armory. BTW Coogans also has another bar called parrot bay on 93rd and 3rd.

I've lived a summer in nyc and had the best time in my life. Here's the lowdown:

Must See: McSorley's...oldest bar in nyc, abe lincoln has been here. You have to order 2 beers at once (8 or 10 oz.) for $4 total. Really crowded on weekends, though you can get a table if you wait. Great spot to pre-game. get off on the astor pl. station on the 4-5-6 line.

Good Neighborhoods to party:

1. Lower east side. Aweswome collection of bars within walking distance of each other, some great late-night eating establishments (think crepes). Cheap, too. Get off at Delancey St. or the Lower E. Side on the B-D line.

2. Murray Hill. lots of JAPS, if thats your style. decent bars, moderate expensive ($5 for a decent pint). Get off at 28 st. on the 4-5-6 line.

3. NYU bars. This is the place to go if you are looking for cheap drinks and easy girls. There's a huge section along bleecker st. Really cheap, get off at W. 4th St./NYU on the B-D line or 8th St. on the N-Q-R line.

If you're looking for something a little more hip, go to the meatpacking section, a little yuppie, go to the upper east side (great bar called the Big Easy at about 86th and 2nd).

If you want something a little alternative (read: hipster), go to brooklyn. Take the L line to Bedford Ave, and walk around there..very cool.

for years, not months, and let me tell you NYC, has gone downhill in a yuppie basket. It's completely lost its edge.One of the wildest nights was the night Princess Di died. After spending the night at the Kurova Milk Bar in East Village, and accidentally ingesting acid, spent the early morning hours at a vampire club fully accessorized with a man on a crucifix hanging from the ceiling getting his testicles shocked while women ashed in guys mouths, and a French play went onstage--a naked girl wrapped a torniquet drew blood, dropped in some cocaine and drank her it. After that, cruised to midtown for Brazil Day--100 piece samba bands with a hangover at 10 am. Man, what a night. Loved it!PS You can do everything you suggested in any midsized Midwest city. If you go to the Big Apple, for jeebus sake, take advantage of it and really explore.How about martinis at Rockefeller Center while the clouds roll under your feet at twilight. Or the KGB bar at 4am for drinks (East Village). Talk to the homeless in Tompkins Square (sic)--they know where the after hours parties are at.Enjoy

Which frat bar? I hope you're not referring to XL, in which case you must have had an interesting brotherhood dynamic in college.

I think nyc means any place where patrons aren't dressed exactly the same in black and the same goofy eyeglasses while listening to annoying garage music.
