I'm six feet tall, weigh around the mid 150s, have extremely high arches and extremely rigid feet, and run about 13 miles on hard roads every day in the Speedstar II. As far as I can tell, it's the least constrictive and lightest trainer on the market for someone of my awful foot type. I understand that no structural changes will be made to the shoe until June 2008. I begin wearing through the green forefoot cushioning stuff -- particularly on the lateral side -- within about three or four runs, and they never last for me beyond four weeks (twenty-eight 13 mile days). The unrestrictive upper is -- at least for someone like me whose feet are born with motion control and don't need anything whatsoever in the way of duo-density midsoles or plastic crap -- a big improvement over the restrictive upper of its predecessor. I only wish Asics would replace the cushioning with that new Soylite material that is gradually replacing the heaverier and foamier Speva, and wonder if the new Landreth wouldn't be a useful alternate shoe to relieve some of the beating I take every day.
