does wearing spikes have much of an effect on achillies. does doing workouts in spikes increase the chances of injuring or reinjuring achillies?

From my experience, I'd advise you to be cautious about wearing spikes. A few years ago, I wore spikes for a 3 x 1 mile workout, went home without doing much stretching, and no icing; the next day, I couldn't walk. I had Achilles Tendonitis for about 6 months. Needless to say, I seldom wear spikes anymore.

Wouldn't a better solution have been (after it healed) to have just to have actually stretched next time?
If you don't like spikes, fine, I don't want to suggest you wear shoes you dislike. But you seem to have identified the cause of the problem (not stretching) and then ignored. it.
