I'm pretty sure I've seen this on the board before, but I was wondering if anybody of mediocre talent (such as myself) could connect themselves to someone who has beaten Kenenisa Bekele (thereby proving themselves to be the greatest runner in the world).
For example, has anyone beaten someone who's beaten someone who's beaten someone who's beaten Alistair Cragg who's beaten Bekele?

Well Allistair was beaten in NCAA XC by Jorge Torres. Jorge finished 47th at NCAA XC in 1999. I know I beat at least 1 of those 47. I'm sure a lot of others have as well.
Josh Rohatinsky finished anti-AA at NCAA XC one year, so perhaps thats another way to connect.

I think the easiest route to a Bekele number would be through three Brits: Jon Brown, Keith Cullen and Karl Keska (all 1s). With Keska in the mix, I might even have a Bekele number.

Okay, maybe that was too easy for people. Now try to do it in a single event (e.g., 5000 meters on the track). For instance, Gilmore over Ritz in the Marathon doesn't count until Ritz beats Cragg in the Marathon and Cragg beats Bekele in the Marathon,
