I apologize for starting another useless "what's wrong with me" thread, but I have searched through old threads and can't seem to find anything that is the same as the pains I have now (or at least, if they do, it's hard to tell). I have been relatively lucky not to have had many injuries in the past, although I have run a number of 100 + mile weeks.
I recently tried to change my form to run more on my toes, which caused some fairly severe calf tightness at first, but I kept running anyway. Eventually about three weeks ago I started getting sharp pains near the head of my fibula at the end of a 70 minute run. The next day I started running without any pain, but again I started getting pain very quickly and after a few minutes I had to walk.
I have run on and off for the last three weeks. I can run for a few minutes without any pain, but then my leg seems to get tighter and tighter until I can't run without severe pain. There don't seem to be any muscles that are tight. I can walk without pain (unless I've recently run). The head of my fibula, where the pain is centered, is not painful to touch. I can jump on my leg without pain.
Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?
