Who do you think would win in their prime at 2 miles? Gebreselassie ran 8:04 indoor.
Who do you think would win in their prime at 2 miles? Gebreselassie ran 8:04 indoor.
El Guerrouj ran 7:23 for 3k which is about 7:55 pace for two miles. You'd think he'd be able to run sub 8 minutes in the right race.
That would be a titanic battle. I've never seen anybody pull away from Geb as El Guerrouj did when they raced 1500m indoors in 1997.
yeah i think el g takes the cake on that one over 2k. 5k would have been the better matchup i think.
My God that would be an epic race, but I've got to go with El G on this one
I'll go w/ Geb, he won that indoor title in the 1500 once, so he maybe able to hold off EL G. Close one though
Im goin with El G. Geb won the 1500 indoor ONCE. El G has won 1500s, indoors and out, many times. El G would probly make a move with something around 600 left and break away from Geb.
times(in a rabbited, record attempt style race):
El G- 7:59
Geb- 8:00
Times(in a tactical race):
El G- 8:05
Geb- 8:07
What is Gebrselassie 400 speed? El G is like 46 just guessing.
400 speed is insignificant. I'll go with El G as he was able to beat Bekele in a 5000 when he was in his prime. A 3000 race against either of the Ethiopians would probably have been easier for the miler.
What about Alan Webb?
f alan webb - we're talking about the greatest there has ever been. Alan Webb is not one of the greatest.
Look who made the comment, an NFL player with most likely less than a high school education equivalent.
i doubt its that fast-3 seconds within WR 400m? no way
he has excellent speed endurance, not raw speed
id say 48 at best, as his 800m speed is about 1:45
mabye
he is so well trained that he doesn't need leg speed-he can just take off with 600m to go and run 53-55 sec pace to the finish
El G=leg strnegth, not leg speed
strength yes, but it's a common topic on this message board and noted in his wikipedia entry that guerrouj banged out a 1:42 in practice. i'd believe it considering guys like willis, who has admitted to having more of that "strength speed" has run a 1:45 while his mile time is still nearly 10 seconds slower.
What the hell is that supposed to mean? These guys could run backwards and still beat Webb over 2 miles!
Impressive-was it handtimed?
4k on the track would be cooler.
No way has El G run 1:42. No way in hell.
it said it on wikipedia so it must be true
it was high 1:42 tho
but yea i would have thought 1:44 at best
Komen vs El G at 5k would be even cooler. Or perhaps the two go at it at 2k?
