yo alan just ran like a 3:59 at george mason today with richard smith rabbitting through 800. i think alan was all alone after that. pretty good for his first race in a long time especially since it was a solo effort the last 800.

oh cool, how'd you find all of this out?
if alan webb runs a race in a forest but there are no other runners racing ... is it still a race????
i am confused
did he really run a 3:59? and if he did, how come no one cares?
thanks
Why should anybody care about a 3:59?
This is a 3:48 guy (granted this is indoors and very early in the season) and that\\\'s all he does with someone rabbiting him?
he was probably there, but results are up on GMU's website. He beat Burley by 10 seconds.

I doubt he even went all out. Wouldnt be surprised if he didnt even rest up the day before this race...this was nothing more than a training run that happened to be in front of a crowd.

Just giving enough effort to keep his name on the Nike roster, all while seeking the benefits of a quick race for training.
wannamaker mile will be interesting, big mzungo, lagat, webb, brannan + more
Rumor has it that cousin Big M's living room walls are covered with shoe-prints from practicing for Milrose.
Noone cares about a 3:59? Are you crazy? It's early January, and it's indoor track. I hate it how ignorant people expect pros (especially Webb and Ritz) to PR every time they race, and then criticize them when they don't. I don't usually don't run withing 10 seconds of my PR my first race of the season, and I doubt most of you do either.
I remember Webb running 4:01 at some indoor meet in February or March in a few years ago, and he went on to run well later in the year. Also, didn't Bekele run 4:01 indoors last year? Yeah, he sucks too...
Milrose should be cool, but Lagat will pull away from everyone.
alan also rabbitted the first 800 of the 1000 after he ran the mile. he cut a 1:52. 3:59 and then a 1:52 rabbit, not too shabby for beginning of january.

I wasn't saying that "WEBB SUCKS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T PR TODAY!!" I don't expect him to PR everytime. I just thought if he had someone rabbiting him that he would go a little quicker. People made some valid points in the fact that he probably didn't rest up for it.
And also, he rabitted in the 1000. That makes his day seem alot more like a good workout.
As for Bekele, if you watched the race last year, they went out in like 1:53 on the tight eleven lap a mile track at madison. Bekele went on to run 3:33? in the 1500 later in the season which equates to about a what? 3:48 or 3:49?
Does anyone know what his splits were?

No one should care about a 359....i certainly dont...however what we do care is that hes clearly HEALTHY. THats what this race shows...a nice workout that tells us things have been going well. Thats why we care.
Anyone else think he would have run a faster time if his first 880 hadn't been 1:52?
Uh, I believe the 1:52 was the 800 he ran to rabbit the 1000. Don't know what he hit for 800 in the mile but I'm sure it wasn't close to 1:52!
58, 2:00, 3:01, 3:59.
Here are the real splits:
55, 2:03, 2:59, 3:59

You just proved you don't know much about the sport. 3:33 DOES NOT equal 3:48. More like 3:50-3:51.
