I was reading a coaches suggestions for tempo run paces. His suggestions were based on taking your 5k pace divided by a certain percent depending on the length of the run. Basically for every run length and pace it had an equivalent mmol amount. As the run time went up and pace went down the mmol also lowered. I was just wondering if someone could explain to me what the mmol means exactly. I've read some articles explaining it pertaining to the amount of lactic acid per liter but am looking for a detailed discription. I also read a runner max is about 4 mmol (lactic threshhold) if anyone knows please help me to understand this training standard better thanks.
