Wow. Looks like someone pulled a switcheroo. Usually it's the other way around, eh? Also, does anyone remember the wheelchair high school track debacle last year? I know it's not the same, but they are loosely related.

When I was living in the Utica, NY area a boy from that region sued to play girls field hockey and won. He had to wear the same uniform as the girls, which included a skirt. He did it.
that is probably the dumbest thing i've ever heard
The problem is that he tried to compete in a sport that was designated "girls only." The same thing would happen if a girl tried to compete on a boy's soccer team.
However, in sports such as football and wrestling where there is no gender limitation, girls are allowed to mix it up with the boys, if they so choose.
isn't that where Solinsky went to high school?
yeh that is where solinsky went to school, that was my first thought when i read that
My son wrestles. They have had to allow girls on his team due to not having a girls team. I see no difference.
In a way, I don't either unless you look at the fact that chances are a male gymnast is probably stronger than a female and would have an advantage when it came to executing routines. When it comes to wrestling, there is a bit of an equalizer there because of weight classes.
There are some sports that let girls move up and compete with the guys even if they offer the sport for the girls, at least up until the state series. A friend of mine in HS was one of the best girls' junior golfers in the country, so she competed on the boys' team the entire season and then when the state tournament rolled around played in the girls' tournament.
not trying to be a prick but the strength to weight ratio needs to be considered when comparing men and women gymnastics. routines can be affected by rotating mass, strength, etc... just because some men are stronger doesn't mean it's any more of a benefit to perform certain routines
Of course he should be allowed to compete as a member of the girls team. Remove what there is of the penis and scrutum, shave under the arms and have at it. The perfect girly-boy. Not that there is anything wrong with that,.
And on top of that, if a male is competing in women's gymnastics I assume he would be required to follow the womens' rotation -- balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and floor exercise, rather than the men's rotation -- rings, pommel horse, horizontal bar, parallel bars, vault (altered direction), and floor exercise.
I think those uneven bars would really smart for a guy ! Either that or an iron jock.
This kid must have a really proud father.

I doubt he would be competing in women's gymnastics had he won the suit. I assume that he would have been practicing with the girls team and competing in the male division. This happens in other sports. Alot of xc teams that don't have enough interest for a girls team will allow a girl to run with the guys in practice. Of coarse she competes in the girls races when she goes to meets.
not mention womens gymnastics has more of an element of style and grace to it, whereas mens is more power. Can you imagine mens rhythmic gymnastics, yikes.
there are a ton of boys playing girls field hockey in central pa...in the harrisburg area. it's a freaking disgrace, but probably 1/3 of the teams in the mid-penn (a 30-team conference) have one or more boys on them. i'm so embarrassed for them.

i dont see a problem with the kid wanting to do gymnastics until his balls drop... then he needs to grow some ball hair and put down the spandex
I'm waiting for some high school male to sue the state of NV for the right to run for the women at UNR or UNLV as there are no collegiate men's programs for track or cross country in the entire state.

Oh yes, I can imagine :)
Just wanted to point out that the vast majority of male gymnasts would destroy any of you in a fight...
