triples:
one actual run
one made up entry in your running log
and another post about running 120 mpw
get to it, sucker.
I'll assume you want to race more than 1 mile. People will say singles until you're running x miles/week. I'd put x at around 50-60, as even if you run 7 day/week, if you have to run an average of 8-9miles in a single run everyday then there's precious little room for easy/rest days.
The next point, how many world class runners train on singles? Tied in with, how many world class runners train on less than 60 miles/week?
Personally, I've found adding in 30 min easy runs as many days a week as possible in addition to normal training gives a huge benefit. Physiologically I don't have the definative reason why, but I consider the fact it takes me from 50 upto 70 miles/week a good explanation for the improvements!
Therefore, if you're over 18/20yrs old and are serious about getting the best out of yourself, run more than 60 miles/week and to do this with the minimum injury risk, do doubles
Triples..:)
I run singles till about 65 miles. I do doubles from there up to 90 miles which I hold. I use to be big into the 100 miles per week thing but I\'m now doing more quaility miles and just a tad less in total volume.
I do 80-85 in singles. I can't be bothered to shower and get ready twice if one of my runs isn't at least 80 minutes. I know successful folks who do periods of 100 a week in singles.
Who showers?
I double 2-3 days a week from 70 miles on up.
Do the kenyan runners shower 3 times per day?
No, they don´t.
