I was wondering if anyone else out there has a very narrow range of running performance, that is, you experience little difference in your times when relatively untrained and when training seriously.
I'm 21. I can jog 3 times a week and run a 15:30 5k.
I can take 2 months completely off, jog once, and then run a 15:50 5k two days later. Unless I became a lardass, I think it's impossible for me to run worse than ~16:30 5k.
However, I can also run 65-80mpw with great workouts and run 15:00-15:10 for 5k in multiple seasons.
It's pretty frustrating. The relatively decent times off minimal work make me think I could be pretty good, but I never progress significantly.
Anyone have any thoughts or have experienced the same?
