My memory of the Sydney final is much different. Because of the Malaria Kipketer had in '98, he became reluctant to take the pace as he had done in the past. Schumann got lucky in a race that was run way too slow. Had there been a faster pace I like to think Kipketer or Borzakhovsky would have taken it.
