Yes, it is.
-
that guys is awesome.
-
had a nice 1k purse waiting for him.
-
Another reason D3 is weak. This kid can walk all over them, THEN go run a marathon the next morning.
-
Ok dumbass. The fact that he is DIII himself and then goes and finishes 6th in a marathon makes DIII look pretty damn solid.
-
Another reason I love pounding D1 runners in to the ground...
.... go end yourself you tool. -
So the guy is 24 y.o.???? Is he having to race for money now to pay off all those loans for going D3???

Haha, as if he had to pay for any of those himself in the first place . . . -
i'm pretty sure being one of the lost boys of sudan and his story of how he got to america took care of a decent chunk of his D3 school loans

I fail to see the logic in this argument. What does the performance of one dude say about his entire division? The answer is....nothing.
Consider this. Completely hypothetical scenario here. The first guy runs 28:50 to win at XC nationals. No one else in the field runs faster than 32:00. The winner finishes 6th in a marathon the next day. According to your argument, the entire XC field was solid. See your flaw?
Quit calling people a dumbass if that's the type of argument you rely on for support. -
whatever happened to just being a runner and loving the sport? now we have to say one division is better than the other, clearly the difference is D3 has more class and maturity than D1, or at least the D1 idiots that post here.

Congrats to Macharia. He's a nice guy who deserves a round of applause. Plus, he made a great speech at the D-III awards ceremony that encouraged others.

This is the first year Yuot has been able to pull off the win, so I'm pretty sure he was working pretty hard for it. -
Certainly Yuot's double was "tough," but did it strike anyone else as "dumb" as well? He will have the lingering effects of a marathon in his legs for at least 1-2 months, maybe more. Moreover, he ran 2:25, which doesn't make the standard. Why wouldn't he wait until he had optimal preparation? I doubt that he was able to put in 20+ mile runs at the end of the CC season, although I could be wrong. Just my two cents.
-
standard for what? he's not an american citizen, and if he went back to the sudan he'd be killed. he has no country to run for.
and who the hell cares if he's sore for a month afterward?(obviously you've never done serious marathon training or you'd know that he's not going to be wrecked for "1-2 months"). what's he going to save himself for? he's got no more eligibility left!
lol... "optimal preparation" ... maybe he should have called "tinman" to advise him on this one. is that what you're recommending?
the guy works for his tuition. he's never not worked since he's been here. the money was a real factor in his decision to race.
good god, the smallness of the pricks on some of you jackoffs is startling. -
So I'm assuming he's out of track eligibility, is that what you're saying? If he's not he couldn't accept the prize money. I recall he's been in the last 4 XC championships, but did he run track for Widener before then?
-
yes...saturday was his last collegiate race.

Post of the year, maybe the history of the board -
Yuot was probably working incredibly hard on Sunday, given his effort on a difficult course the day before, but 2:25 is practically a fun-run for a fellow of his caliber. Besides, I have heard that Philly was a bueatifully orchestrated wreck of an event held in one of America's finest, most historically alluring and violent piss-hole megaslums.
Racing a marathon the day after a national XC championship is obviously stupid, but taking into account the easy cash, the fact that the marathon was in Yuot's back yard, and the expiration of his collegiate eligibility, it was unquestionably a savvy move. I can't help but praise this humble gentleman even though I'd like to rip the numb shit to hell and back on message boards, and I wish he were an American even though imports are never genuine citizens no matter what the INS paperwork says.
