Yeah, don't look for the NYU guys to try to maximize their points.
http://www.nyu.edu/athletics/teams/track/m/article/2367"We came to Princeton to get our first set of qualifying times out of the way. Mission accomplished," [coach Nick] McDonough said. "Now we can focus on just training the rest of the way for the NCAA Outdoor Championships."
Other weekend results for the Violets:

First day results--UAA outdoor meet (at Emory):

NYU (men's) coach is quoted (elsewhere) as saying that they just ran for the 1-2 in the 10,000, not going for a good time--they're prepping for Penn next week.
They'll still come back from outdoor Nationals with a half-dozen all-Americans, so it's hard to fault their choices. The UAA track meets, which NYU has no chance to win, simply don't figure high in their prioritization; Penn and esp. DIII Nationals, where they can have a few individuals make a spectacular team showing, get more emphasis--and *should*, given the makeup of their team.
As a team the NYU women are having by far their best meet of the season and yet are completely uncompetitive. There's such a blinding gap between these two squads--trying to think of any other UAA (or even DIII) school that has a similar disparity between the sexes' competitiveness. Anybody know of one?
Carnegie men win a close one, WashU women rock:

Best of luck to all UAA teams, the rest of the season.
Great meet today at Emory with CM squeaking out a 1.5 point win over host Emory and Wash U DOMINATING the women's meet. Great kids, great schools and hard working athletes. It was a pleasure to officiate your meet and be a part of a great conference!
Good luck to all UAA'ers and on to Nationals!
Forget Leventhal. Brian Harvey is the new hotness.
The UAA is a great conference. The athletes all work very hard both on the track and off, and have great attitudes and spirit towards competition. I'm really glad to see my guys win one after being very close the last few years. WashU's women are something else altogether.
Hany Abdallah, 14:12 at Penn! Takes national lead (allegedly--list is incomplete) by 10+ seconds!
Which introduces the general topic: who will be the top UAA teams/individuals at DIII nationals?
NYU will clearly be the top team at nationals for the conference just as they were for indoor, the simply have far more athletes qualified and at the top of the lists.
Hell of a race for Hany, but no one in the 10k?
Jesse McDaniel and Beth Herndon of WashU both ran provisional 10k qualifying times Friday in the Gina Relays, about 30:35 and 36:53.

I suspect that the only NYU-ers who could have gotten into the Penn race already have qualifying (at least provisional) times.
