It seems to be a general consensus that mid-distance (talking about 800-1500) elites lift, but does anyone have lifting regimens from some elites?

Only SLOW runners have lift programs. The really fast middle distance runners spend their time out RUNNING! instead of trying to gain fat-muscle-weight in their upper body. Check out all the KENYAN or ETHIOPIAN weight training programs cos you aren't gonna find any!
the ethiopians do lift weights. i've seen an article about geb's routine. el g also lifted quite a bit. some of the kenyans do, others don't.
MD manifesto,
My current program consists of the following in general:
*upper body- (lifts which strengthen shoulders)-once weekly
*Legs-(Squats,Hamstring curls,Box steps)- Once weekly
*Core/hips-(varitions of planks)- Once weekly
*Abs/back-(various abdominal exercises)- Once weekly
*Plyometric Jumps-(Jump Rope,Jumps with weight,bounding)- Several days of the week

How many ethiopian world class 800m runners can you name?
EL G lifted 2x per week according to MV article.
Coe advocates lifiting up to 3 times per week.
If you want to develop some serious speed hit the weights, but not upper body weights!
Also middle distance = 800m / 1500m. This is a different ball game from 5K.

Thats the funny thing, because Ethiopian coaches have their runners doing quite a bit of resistance training, followed by a lot of plyo type work. so i guess when you say ethiopians you mean to exclude all the dominate world record holders?
thats fine, but i think you should be clearer next time you post.
So when has jumping rope been considered plyometrics?
how does lifting make your upper body fat?
whatwhat,
Since plyometric jumps were first defined and created.

I don't know if there's a steadfast rule on lifting for elite Mid-D runners. Some who I know lift and others don't. From my humble "semi-elite" experience, my energy is better spent doing sprints, hills, and form drills to build speed and strength rather than lifting, but again that's just me. And I don't mean to assume that what works for me will work for everyone. Oh and by the way, lunges without weight have really helped my steeple time and seem to be making me faster in the 800/1500m.
milers left out,
I do believe in a steadfast rule that ALL runners should incorporate strength training into their routine. The event will determine the specificity of lifts, reps, sets and weight.
