trackhead, or anyone know what the Speedstar's heel to toe drop is?
Do the Speedstar and Mizuno Idaten feel similar to anyone out there who has run in both?

run regularly in the Speedstar - done 4 marathons in them. 3 in the I's and 1 in the II's.
haven't run in it, but i tried on the Idaten - nice feel, but not anywhere near as much cusion over all nor as soft as the 'star, which is too soft for some folks' tastes.
the 'star II's are ever so slightly more firm, but still have a very soft feel in the forefoot.
25 timer, Do you like the II better than the I?
I've run many miles in both, and I do prefer the II. However, I like its predecessor (Gel-Flash DS) more than both of them.
Would you run in Speedstars in a trail race or does to much stuff get the air vents and is traction a problem?
yeah, i do like the II better. the I was on the verge of being too soft and unresponsive.
and the white with green trim is much easier on the eyes than the neon yellow of the I
i've done some trail running in them - you do get some dirt inside the shoe, but not as much as i expected
traction was good - but i haven't been on very technical or muddy trails with them for very long.
i suspect the duosole would collect a lot of mud
I'm being a pest, i know, but do you or anyone else use the Speedstar as a daily trainer?
i quit using them for runs longer than 6 miles since my feet start to hurt if I go any longer in speedstars. I STARTED using gs trainers in place to train except for speed sessions or fast tempo runs. I also use them to race with great success up to the half-maraton but like I said they do become painful after 10k

They're in my rotation so I wear them about once a week. I run about 60% groomed trails 40% pavement and they're comfortable on both. I also wore them for my recent marathon and they felt great. The Speedstars are probably my favorite shoe.
