Lydiard Book Question.
Hi all!
There has been a great deal of information written regarding Lydiard training theory, the Lydiard talked a great deal regarding his training ideas. What I am interested in knowing is if anyone has his training cycles out of
‘’Lydiard’s Schedules’’ If my memory serves me correct he wrote a book which in essence was just a set of what he thought to be ideal training cycles. From what I understand or read anyway, this book went very into detail regarding his training system, to the point that goal pace/intensity levels for each day of base training where prescribed.
From what I can gather, have read anyway there are a few things, important conditions that need to be met to see the greatest rewards from Lydiard’s system.
A) One must train according to a plain
B) One must do an appropriate value of training.
C) Just as important as volume at any given time is the fact that one applies a sizeable amount of intensity in each stage of training.
The thing that I have found to be frustrating is the fact that in his later books he never gave any sort of idea of just what he felt ¼ or ½ intensity really amounted to. I do know that he always made it clear that his runners, where not out for joy jogs. So if anyone has any idea regarding pacing tables at different levels please provide the information. I am doing base work from 11-1 to 3-1-07., and would like to gain the max results for my time-spent working.
Thank You
Sol Richards.
