Three high school runners from the Philadelphia Suburbs (District 1) went under 15 on Friday at Lehigh University. Paul Springer (14:47), Jason Weller, and Kyle Dawson. They were followed by 30 runners who broke 16. Is this the deepest district, region, or section in the nation?
I think for one is a very very good district, I also believe that it was a combo of a great day (weather), fast course (still legit) and great competition.

Yea, in this day and age, if these guys were serious contenders for FL finalists, we would have heard of them. It was obviously a fast course. Booooooooo
Springer ran around 9:00 for the 3200 and Weller was under 9:10. I would say that they are contenders to make nationals. Also, if you look it up on www.dyestatpa.com the course is not flat but has rolling hills. Finally, there are I believe 12 districts in PA and from this district there will be 10 to 15 runners who finish in the top 25 at the PA state meet.
when i was in high school we had a footlocker finalist run 15:20's on that course. legit course just fast. don't hate. is district '1' for a reason.
the course is legit, but very quick.
The Lehigh course is fast, but not easy. Compare these sub-15's to what Danny Coval ran back in 1999 when he won FL NE. I think he ran a 15:13 on the same course in the District meet. He won that race by a good :30 seconds. I dont think a District 1 meet has ever seen 3 runners capable of sub-15 together in the same race. It's good to see PA D1 get a little respect on the national level.
Funny how you know you've had a great race when people accuse the course of being short instead of being impressed.
I challenge you to show me another race where 30+ high school dudes can run under 16, and then proceed to tell me that it has rolling hills and is legit. no way. clearly short!!
the rolling hills carry you through..before every up hill, you get a nice downhill that just carries you. I ran the course easy the other day, and did it in about 20 minutes, went through the opening mile in 6:10. But yeah, it is legit
Georgia has Hubers who ran sub 15 this year. and Girma who ran 15 flat and then caught a virus. and Hellar who got close on a fast course. all three of those guys could run in the 14's at McAlpine and Georgia has at least 3 more that will run under 15:30. This promises to be the best year ever for the state of Georgia.
Def not short. This course is not at some random park measured by some high school coach. It was at Lehigh U. All of the 5k course is part of the 10k course that held the Ncaa mid atlantic regional last year and in past years has help the Ncaa championship. So its def legit so stop just tryin 2 rip kids down bc they are better than you are or were.
those guys are good, but there is no way the district/region is as good as the spokane area with mead and ferris. that is the best district/region in the country hands down.

If I re-read your first post, only one of the GA kids have gone under 15, "three really good runners going under 15" only pertains to the PA district, not the GA kids.
I guess your over-defensive attitude stems from some major short-coming you have.
in defense of our state runners... the two i listed that didnt run sub 15 have valid excuses for not. Girma is an immigrant from Africa that caught an american virus that his immune system was not ready to fight off. Hellar had some sort of lung problem and had to be hospitalized after his 1st race and has since been gaining some serious ground.
as for me and my shortcomings in life... please know that i'm not a runner. i'm a basketball player and i will whip your ass in a game of one-on-one anyday of your smart-ass life. my interests in running are not self centered. try again

Course is wheeled.
It is legit.
It is not a slow course, it IS legit distance.
30 kids under 16?
So what?
If these 30 are in the top 50 at the State Meet, then all you have is consolidated talent.
The Lehigh courses have been here for years, and host to NCAA qualifiers. The mile is legit, the course is legit, and the timing company posted chip times with splits.
There isn't any room to question the course or the times.
Coval would've gone 14:45 if he had a 9 flat 3200 meter runner in the race trying to win saving nothing for the following week or FLNE.
But he didn't do it.
These guys hung it out, and that also helped to pull everyone else.
