I have lifted in the past with traditional max strength low volume high weight set up. However, now i am entirely committed to running the fastest 800 and mile that i can and i don't know if i should bother, should i spend the time and effort just putting in more miles (include tempos, vo2 max, all that jazz)
I know that 400m speed is crucial to my events and lifting plays a big role in speed but would
General Strength type work, hill reps, lots of striders, and plyos address this issue?
for instance which of these 2 setups will make me run the best at 400m, 800m, mile:
Heavy Lifting 2-3x per week, and 60mpw (with striders, plyos, workouts)
80mpw (all that stuff), no lifting
