jasaris. haven't run in them since high school, but they were the best. just look at how many guys were wearing them in the 1500 at Athens.
i haven't paid attention to all the "jasaris for sale" stuff here, but why the hell are they apparently so hard to find (or is it not that hard)? shouldn't nike have them in every catalog and running store? seems like they'd keep selling pretty well.
A blast from the post and a mega, mega seller:
Adidas Melbournes
Came out in the late 50's, the first white shoe. EVERYBODY wore them.
I like the waffles, never seems to be a bad model of those.
and the Milers. Of Course Im not old enough to remember any "classics"
White Ventulus
tough to say. jasari's and milers are great, but i think the kennedy's will get my vote. i'd like to try on the original eldoret, i hear that's a great spike.
track:kennedy or eldoret 2
xc:kennedy xc(love those things)
the original eldoret is incredible...i bought a pair soph year in high school and wore them all through college (probably not the smartest thing to do...oh well) i bought three other pairs of top notch spikes during that time, but kept going back to the eldoret
white ventulus
I haven't had very many pairs of good spikes, but my favorite is the Vent Plus.

Definitely a beautiful, stripped-down shoe, as free of superfluous design as you can get. A rubber-bottom sock with four permanent Christmas-tree spikes. No aggressiveness. If you want to run faster, you've got to do it yourself.
never liked the vents much. vent+ good for muddy and rainy xc courses though. ventulus with jasari plate from the 2001 WC's looked good though, i'd like to try that spike out. plus, it had that cool spotted blue upper which hasn't been done since.
Are those really that different from the adistars that came before them or the subsequent equipment models?
Mine were the Zoom D's, early '90s. Wish I could still get a pair, in the original purple/neon yellow/white colourway.
I wore the polka-dotted vents all through my senior year in high school, and I think I'll keep those forever. I wish I could have found a pair of the white ones, but they are quite rare nowadays.
Vent+ are shoe of choice now.
late 70's: Nike Triumph (Seb Coe and HEnry rono wore these I think)
Early 80's: Adidas Adistar (blue with yellow stripes)
: Nike Zoom (first spike called zoom)
90's : Jazari, but you have to have good feet; there is nothing to them.
Nike Pre-Montreal
I've still got a pair of Meteors from the '70s. You just can't beat kangaroo leather. I guess I wouldn't feel right nowadays killing a kangaroo for a pair of shoes.
Adidas Tokyo
a very underrated spike is the zoom shift LD; almost all white w/ a hint of grey and orange....they're the same plate as the original eldoret and similarly comfortable upper. i got a pair a couple years ago for $20. one of the best buys ever to replace my 7yrs in eldorets
I second the Zoom LD,I had a teacher in high school take the nike swoosh patch off my Zoom Mariah's and put them on my LD's, pretty flashy I guess, one of a kind you could say.
