ok i know most of you think walking is gay. I also used to hold it in the lowest esteem. however, since I can no longer run due to degenerative joint disease, I have started walking and have actually come to like it quite a bit. It's both invigorating and relaxing. It gets my heart rate up slightly, gets the circulation going, and lifts my mood like running did. I also find myself getting lost in thought the way I did when I ran. Anyway.... farthest I've gone to date is 8 miles, which took about two and a half hours, and I enjoyed every step of it in the beautiful weather. I'm sorry I sound so gay. If I could have read this two years ago I wouldn't have believed that I would ever post this shit.
Anyway, if you ever feel too beat up to put in your scheduled run, try going for a walk instead. I bet it makes for great recovery.
