I've decided that I'd rather be a middle school teacher than a HS teacher. However, I'm only interested in coaching HS. Are these ambitions incompatible? The main problem I see it is the scheduling since HS and MS usually get out at different times of day (at least that's how it works around here)
Shouldn't be a problem if you can/want to teach at a private school that has both middle and high schools on the same campus.

I was about to say the same thing. Just make sure you leave your stated passion for slooging at home if you're working at the middle school (or the high school for that matter).
Well, this can work but there are some drawbacks. I taught at the ms level for 3 years and coached the HS CC teams. The only disadvantage I saw was the fact I never saw my kids during the day and If I wanted to get a hold of one of them or change a practice I had to call the HS. I was fortunate to have an assistant coach at the HS the last 2 years. I eventually moved over to teach at the HS and it was much better. So you can do it and you can be successful but communication and seeing your team during the day would be a drawback. On the other hand, sometimes its good if they do not see you all day every day.
