"Spartathlon" is a very long ultramarathon held in Greece since 1983. The Spartathlon is a 246-kilometre (152.85 miles) race from Athens to Sparta.
Scott Jurek finishes Spartathlon in 22:52:18. Scott Jurek is the first winner from the United States, the
first to make a time under 23 hours after Yannis Kouros incredible 20:29 at 1990, 5th best time and
2nd fastest runner of all times.
I've always wanted to do this just because it seems so f***ing badass. I don't even like marathons, just..having thousands of screaming Greeks cheer you to an epic finish sounds pretty awesome. Props to Jurek.

Apparently Kouros's record is 20:25 in 1984. That's exactly 8 minute miles for 152 miles. Beat that, Dean.
This effectively makes Jurek the most competitive male US runner at ANY distance above 400m!
Yannis Kouros must be a space alien from a heavy gravity planet with a thin atmosphere. Or he ran with an IV dripping drugs into his body.
