Chris is getting married to Shawn Feeney, they've been dating for a few years. She's no bigger than he is, but Shawn beat Chris arm-wrestling twice in front of a half-dozen guys. It was pretty funny, but she digs him anyways.

Yes ladies. It is true. Chris Lear will soon be off the market. I'm sure velocitygirl you are crushed. But soon you will learn if you have not already that life is not fair.
It's funny but nice to think that writing a book about running will make you appealing to the opposite sex. Or was it something else that you found appealing?
hey velocitygrl :-) i know who u r and i think u know who is writing this message (just look at my screen name)... i laughed sooo hard when i saw who posted this... i very rarely look at this message board, but they re-did the format and now its really nice... yea, its too bad that chris is getting married and yea, i heard about that arm wrestling match he lost to her from him a couple of times...
AjD
The rumor on the street is that Chris' wife to be did not run and smoked prior to meeting him. Now she's a sub 2:10 half miler.
No wonder velocity girl is upset. Chris Lear is every women's dream.
Chris is rather average, really. Get real.
Hey, wait a minute! I want to hear more from these women! What makes Lear so attractive? (If it's his weak biceps, that should give a lot of male distance runners quite a psychological boost, but I suspect that it's something else.)
He's from New Jersey. That's a babe magnet by itself.
I hear he is being considered for a coaching job at
Cornell? Any truth?
With all due respect to Chris, Lear has no collegiate coaching experience. Zip. He does coach his wife (Shawn Feeney--2:09ish 800-meters) sometimes, along with recently departed Colorado assistnat Jason Drake. He also has the inside scoop on Wetmore's methodology though, a strong selling point, plus recruiting clout (I presume) thanks to his book RWTB. So anything is possible, but I think Cornell would want to hire someone with more NCAA D-1 rules awareness and overall coaching know-how. Maybe Lear is being 'considered' for the post along with other candidates. He is also under contract to finish the Michigan Milers book on Alan Webb & Co. with Rodale. Alan left but there is still a book deal in there somewhere.
