"Crazy B!tch" by Buck Cherry. I'm sure the bride's parents wouldn't care too much for that one.
As we gathered for our wedding reception, I instructed someone to put on something "mellow, for now" from a stack of CDs. (We had a live band later, so no stinkin' DJ.) He picks out Chet Baker and the first tune up, first line of the song: "The thrill is gone..."
"Every Breath You Take" by the Police. Just what you want at your wedding, a stalker song.
She F'in Hates Me - Puddle of Mudd
"Hurt" the Johnny Cash version.
'Novemeber Rain' GnR
I just got married and didn't leave the music up to chance. The DJ has a full list of 100 songs to take up the cocktail hour , dinner and reception. I burned a CD in advance of the ones he didn't have.
Cool first song, "Somebody" by Depeche Mode.
I went with 'You got the Silver' by Rolling Stones, sung by Keith. I've always just liked it.
Our little boy is four years old
And hes quite a little man
So we spell out the words
We dont want him to understand
Like t-o-y, or maybe s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e
But the words were hiding from him now
Tears the heart right out of me
Chorus:
Our d-i-v-o-r-c-e becomes final today
Me and little j-o-e will be going away
I love you both and this will be
Pure h-e-double-l for me
Oh, I wish that we could stop this d-i-v-o-r-c-e
Watch him smile
He thinks its christmas
Or his fifth birthday
And he thinks c-u-s-t-o-d-y
Spells fun, or play
I spell out all the hurtin words
And I turn my head when I speak
Cause I cant spell away this hurt
Thats dripping down my cheek
Repeat chorus
"She's only 17" by Winger. Errr, make that just a bad choice for a song.
that's my theme song
What about that part in The Wedding Singer: "Love Stinks!"
Closer - Nine Inch Nails
I never really though of it but after hearing the suggestion of not suggesting "Love Stinks", it made me think that the J. Geils Band as a whole would be pretty bad for reception music....Ted Nugent too...
With or Without You
I'm Havin Your Baby
I still remember years ago when I worked in a bar and a couple came in to party with friends one night after they were married that day. They didn't know what songs the band could play, so they asked us at the bar to request a song for them on their wedding night. The head bartender wrote the title on a piece of paper and gave it to one of the waitresses to hand to the band. Before the band played the song, they congratulated the couple on their wedding and told the entire bar that the next song was for the couple. The song was "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" by Freddie Fender!!! One of the classic moments from my years in the bar.
Can't someone hasn't mentioned:
"Tied to the Whipping Post" - Allman Brothers
The Other Woman by Ray Parker Jr.
"I'm in love (I'm in love) with the other woman."
Actually heard it at a wedding reception.

Do NOT allow your DJ to play Mony Mony at your reception. You will have all your the drunken friends shouting "Hey, get laid get f*cked" during the song-not what you want all your relatives to hear.
Also, if you want to clear the dance floor, play the Spin Doctors.
On a positive note, little kids love that stupid "Cotton Eyed Joe" gone techno song.
Two out of Three Ain't Bad by Meatloaf
I would go with the Stones' "Beast of Burden."
Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston
