Has anyone tried these shoes? Any comments on the quality, fit, durability, etc? I like the idea of a back-to-basics yet still high quality shoe. And the price is definitely good.

they fit great for me, the cushioning and tread last like iron, the upper seems to wear out sooner than the rest of the shoe, but not an issue since i get about 2-3 months of 80-90 mile weeks-- I really like them for trail running
since the arch is not cut out of the sole, you don't get that clip-clop sound like you do from like the kayano or the hurricane

could you kindly explain what you mean? -- Thanks!
yeah, Chuck is OK
I have been running in them for about three years. Very basic shoe that gets the job done. You can put a lot of miles in them and they don't break down very quickly. Very versatile too. You can comfortably run on the trails, roads, or the track in them. I like a lighter racing flat when racing, but you can comfortably race in the Vitruvian's if you like.
Give them a try. If you don't like them, you don't have to buy them again.
Those are the dorkiest shoes I have ever seen. Look kind of like the old Saucony Jazz or something. Man my grandpa wouldnt be caught dead in those.
Seriously look like prototypes of running shoes in the 80s.
They're so dorky they're cool. Like Adidas Forest Hills or Stan Smiths - simple and cool.
Cool if you are a hipster hanging out on the street in the east village. Kind of dorky to be caught running in and they almost seem like they are trying to be dorky so they can be cool type of thing. All around not cool.
I think the 80's shoe thing is kind of the point. In the 80's shoes were made for runners who, get this, ran. Today shoes are made for the masses with added bells and whistles that don't seem to help real runners. In fact, the evidence that shoes are no better today exists in the injury stats which haven't gone down despite all the technological adavnaces.
For me and many others, we find today's running shoes to be ineffective compared to their 80's counterparts. and this need to change a shoe every 3 or 6 months by the major shoe manufacturers only aggreviates the problem when we finally do find a shoe that works.
I run in racing shoes today - which ironically look and support a lot like the shoes of the 80's. and I stay injury free for 30+ years. I can;t say the same if i was wearing the crap made by today's training shoe manufacturers.
I haven't tried the virtuvians, but can someone please post their web site because I would like to give them a try!
I got a pair. I liked them, but they are too heavy for me. I really wished they would make a light weight trainer, kind of their version of the NB 900.
Those motherfuckers are hideous. I think I'll buy a pair because they are so ugly. The biggest knock on them is that they look cheap and heavy. But, since it annoys other nerdy runners, I think I'll pick up some flashy harmonys. Rad.

The Vitruvians are nice, but I can't wear them because the Harmony (neutral) fits a C width, so beware of that if you are a wider D or a EE/EEEE.
I put about 3 miles on my pair. They tore up my feet so bad that I couldn't take it anymore. Size 10, make me an offer if you want them.
Tore your feet up how, blisters or what? What model size 10? According to the web site they should fit like a 9.5 in the other brands?

I second all of that. If they come out with something 10 oz or less, I'll give 'em another try.
Contact Chuck at the vitruvian website. He will likely take them back and refund you. Their customer service is good.
I'm always experimenting. I have trouble with any shoe that's not a minimalist type. This one just happens to be very far removed from that than most. It was like strapping a couple rocks to your feet. Outside of a pair of Sauconys I bought many years ago, I'd say they're the worst I've ever worn. This experiment failed. I just really liked their concept and wanted to support it.
Really don't see how they could cut your feet up, the uppers are probably the best fitting best quality I ahve worn in years, fit like a glove. Cushioing was good for me, just how fat are you?
