I've worn wave riders for a long time- they've been at least my last 4 years of trainers- and I've had good success with training and being injury free in them. All of them but the most recent pair have lasted me 600-800 miles. I don't weigh a lot, don't pronate much and land mostly on my forefoot.
The most recent pair only made it 300 miles before part of the outsole began wearing completely through to the midsole, which is still relatively firm. I realize that it's unreasonable to expect shoes to last forever, but I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder why this pair wore through so quickly compared to the others. I know that shelflife can be a problem, but I thought that it mainly affected the midsole.
Has anyone else had this problem with the newest model or found that their wave riders weren't lasting as long as usual? I don't want to switch shoes if this was a one-time fluke, but if this is going to keep being a problem, I'd also like recommendations for a long lasting, fairly light trainer.
