What would you rather have? Speed or endurance? Either one you can attribute the other by working hard...but it wont be as good as your natural speed or endurance.

Are you sitting in your basement smoking pot and listening to pink floyd?
Yes! And I wish you were here because I'm comfortably numb. But one of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces."
Both. Yes the 800 was my specialty.
speed. good foot speed is harder to develop than endurance. If you have natural speed, you should be able to develop a decent aerobic engine if you make yourself put in the mileage and grit your teeth through those long interval workouts.
Personally, I have plenty-o-speed but struggle in the endurance department. It's makes it really tough to run decent 5k/10k times and I sometimes wish I had more natural endurance. But I realize that I just don't work hard enough, and if i did I would be able to put my speed to work. I'm just too lazy. However, I'm glad it's not the other way around. That would be incredibly frustrating to have all the endurance in the world, but lose races because you can't kick to save your life. At least when I lose races I know that I could do something about it if I stopped being so lazy.
Just be a miler.
Nowadays, speed... you can always add endurance with epo.

Salazar and Lopes had little innate speed, and you apparently have good speed. But I think it's safe to say that no matter how hard you trained, you'd never be able to run 2:08/27:25/13:11 or 2:07/27:16/13:??.
The truly luck ones are those who are psychologically best suited to the events that suit them best physically.
